Great location, great people - very friendly and helpful, great food. The place seems so clean - you can eat off most floors! Fantastic amenities - 24 hr computers, rec area, and exercise room. I Felt very secure and welcomed. I would recommend this place in a heart beat. Last summer i did an internship in New York City and they have a lot to learn from Chicago.
I was interning in Chicago for the summer and Chris, the omelet maker in the dining center was exceptional. I asked for whole grain bread and he remembered every morning and even made a special trip to get me some. He made me feel like I was home.
I would definitely recommend that other summer interns stay at the UC. The apartment that I was in is an awesome set up, and gave me the ability to cook for yourself, but also invite other intern friends over, and still have 3 close friends that you are living with. There are a lot of things to do inside the UC, but when you want to venture out you are less than 1 minute from 5 different L lines, as well as being close to downtown, restaurants, and shopping.
I stayed for a whole month in the summer (2011) It's a great place! Huge apartment, excellent condition, great location, really cheap price, just PERFECT! If I were a student I'd live there happily. I don't know who wrote the bad reviews but it seems completely wrong. I couldn't find any other place in the short notice and busy time I was looking, now I know I was sssssssssssoooo lucky. Go there, don't hesitate!

Go there, don't I would highly recommend the UC to future interns. I feel safe here, and the people I have interacted with have been helpful and friendly. I know that I can call the front desk with any concerns, and they will assist me in whatever way they can. I posted on the UC Intern Facebook page asking if anyone was interested in playing beach volleyball; fifteen people ended up joining in on the fun, and they remained my friends through the entire summer!
Everything is under one roof. The gym is 24 hours and had all the equipment I need to stay in shape in the summer months. I had an apartment with a kitchen but the dining center is so accessible having meals is no hassle at all. You are able to meet other easily, faciliated by the Facebook page run by UC, and organized events such as the welcome party and baseball games, so you never get lonely if you are new to the city.
